Meet the Team
Steve is a Partner at HLM Capital Management Group. As lead investment strategist, he is responsible for asset allocation and manager selection. Steve founded the team in 1983 at Goldman Sachs. He has been ranked the #1 advisor in Forbes Best In State Wealth Advisor-Illinois State in 20231 and recognized by Barron’s as a Top 100 Independent Advisor in 20232. Steve has a BA in Economics from Stanford University, and an MBA in Finance from Harvard University.
Steve and his wife Janice have been married for over 30 years and have two adult children. Janice and Steve serve on the Board of several Midwest offices of national non-profits. Steve is a member of the national board of directors of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.

Ben is a Partner at HLM Capital Management Group. He joined the team in 1996. As portfolio manager, he focuses on global asset allocation and equity manager selection. Prior to joining the team, he was a currency trader at Mitsubishi Bank in Chicago, Societe Generale in New York and The Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Ben has been recognized by Forbes as a Best In State Wealth Advisor-Illinois State in 20233. He has a BA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA in Finance from Loyola University Chicago.
Ben and his wife Andrea live in Highland Park, Illinois and have four children. He is passionate about finding cures for pediatric cancer and is on the board of Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago. Ben is an avid cyclist and enjoys traveling and hiking with Andrea.
